Beijing will roll out more than 120 activities during the 2018 National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week, local authorities said on Oct. 9 at the launch ceremony.
The theme of the week-long event, which will run through Oct. 15, is "high-level mass innovation and entrepreneurship and high-quality development."
At the launch ceremony, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, authorities of Haidian district and the administrative commission of Zhongguancun Science Park launched a support plan for concept proof as well as a platform to further help start-ups transfer science and technology innovations to commercial and industrial products or services.
The winners of a competition to provide solutions for the demands of local residents were announced at the launch ceremony.
Activities will be held across the city with its main venue at the exhibition center of Zhongguancun National Demonstration Zone for the themed exhibitions. Three other districts and one zone will act as the auxiliary venues. Zhongguancun’s branch parks located in 13 districts will also hold featured activities. Nine activities coordinated by the ministries of the central government, including the Forum on High-Quality Development, will also be held.
This year's activities will focus on the upgrading of innovation and entrepreneurship to deliver new concepts, new models and new benefits of innovation and entrepreneurship, highlighting the innovation of "hard science and technology" and the people-oriented and service-driven approach to innovation and entrepreneurship.
During the week, Beijing will hold competitions for 5G application innovation and other cutting-edge science and technologies, seminars on policies concerning innovation and entrepreneurship, and workshops on regional coordinated innovation development.
A highlight of the activities was the themed exhibition held at the exhibition center of Zhongguancun National Demonstration Zone which showcased more than 600 achievements by more than 300 companies.
